Is your dog 'dog tired'? Waterproof Dog Beds Are The Best Solution

Many of us think of our dogs as our friends and sometimes even as our children. Would you want your best friend or your child sleeping on the cold, hard floor or getting rug burn from the carpet?

Many of us think of our dogs as our friends and sometimes even as our children. Would you want your best friend or your child sleeping on the cold, hard floor or getting rug burn from the carpet?

There are many options for your furry friend to make sure that he gets his rest in his own bed, instead of trying to climb into yours! Your best bet is to buy a large dog bed, or at least quite a bit larger than the dog. How would you feel trying to sleep on just a neck pillow at night?

Many dog beds have numerous shapes and sizes and many different types of fillers. Cedar filled beds are always a wise choice because they won't lose their shape and also help keep the 'wet dog' smell from forming. There are also memory foam beds available, which if you live in a dry climate (or your dog doesn't get wet often) is as well a very comfortable choice and great for older dogs.

Try to choose a bed that has a sturdy cover that won't tear easily. Dark colors and patterns will also help to hide to prevent having to wash the cover frequently. There is a wide variety of fabrics from cotton to denim and from leather to micro suede.

Try to choose a fabric that matches your breed of a dog, do you do shed a lot? Does he get cold or hot easily? Dog bed covers and waterproof dog beds are also a great choice. If you cannot find a waterproof dog bed, many websites offer internal and external covers sold separately.

If your dog spends a lot of time outdoors, there are also large dog beds available that have a metal frame (almost like a hammock) and a cloth bed to prevent your pet from touching the floor while he sleeps.

If you still are unable to decide which bed is perfect for your best friend, try talking to your veterinarian, dog walker or pet groomer. They have a lot of experience and may know more about what is right for your pet than you do!
